All Schedule on GATE 2014


GATE 2014 is one of the expected entrance exams across the nation. For your information, the last date of form submission for GATE exam is 3rd of October. All the 22 papers for GATE will be conducted online. A candidate appearing for XE paper has to answer: Section A (Engineering Mathematics), General Aptitude (GA) and any two of the XE sections B to G.
Some important dates for GATE 2014


Here are some important dates for GATE aspirants who are appearing for GATE 2014.
                      I.            Last date for enrollment: 1st October 2013
                   II.            Last date for submission for online application form: 3rd October
                 III.            Last date for change of centre: 20th November 2013
                 IV.            Availability of admit card: 18th December 2013
                   V.            Date of exam: between 1st February to 2nd March

GATE 2014: Pattern and Marking


To qualify GATE 2014, you need a closer view of its paper pattern and its updated syllabus. There are many changes in the GATE syllabus and pattern this year. As the exam is going to be held between February and March 2014, you have enough time to prepare if you follow the right kind of preparation and choose the right kind of books. 

In every paper, there will be 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Here is the mark distribution pattern of GATE 2014:

1.       General Aptitude (GA): 10 questions, 15 Marks
2.       For papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, the Engineering mathematics section will carry 13 % of the total marks, GA will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining marks are devoted to the subject of the paper.
3.       For papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, GA will carry 15 % of the marks and 85 % of the total marks is devoted to the subjects of the paper.
4.       GATE 2014 will have 2 types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (1 or 2 marks each) and Numerical Answer Questions (1 or 2 marks each) .
5.       For 1 mark multiple choice question, 1/3 will be deducted for wrong answer and for 2 Marks question, 2/3 of the mark will be deducted.

PSU Jobs through GATE exam results


In the recent past, GATE exam was conducted for aspirants who wanted to pursue their higher studies like M.Tech, MS, etc. in technology fields after their graduation. GATE scores were highly important for them to get into most prestigious colleges and universities. Now the GATE scores are mandatory for aspirants who are trying their luck in various PSUs. Started in 2013, now the recruitment by the Public Sector Undertakings will be done through GATE scores.

Various PSUs that are hiring candidates through GATE include:

1.       Powergrid
2.       Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL)
3.       National Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPC)
4.       National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC)
Important Dates:
1.       Online registration for HPCL starts from 5th November 2013
2.       Online Registration for NTPC Ltd.: 20th December 2013
3.       For Powergrid and NHPC Ltd., online registration will starts from 7th January 2014.

Many other PSUs like BHEL, BARC, etc. are also increasingly conducting their recruitment through GATE. Candidates who are preparing for GATE 2014 and are looking for PSU jobs, have to apply for the same separately.

Online registration for GATE 2014 has already started and the last date for the same is 3rd October 2013. GATE 2014 will be held from 1st February 2014 onwards.
