To qualify GATE 2014, you need a
closer view of its paper pattern and its updated syllabus. There are many
changes in the GATE syllabus and pattern this year. As the exam is going to be
held between February and March 2014, you have enough time to prepare if you
follow the right kind of preparation and choose the right kind of books.
In every paper, there will be 65
questions carrying 100 marks. Here is the mark distribution pattern of GATE
2014:
1. General
Aptitude (GA): 10 questions, 15 Marks
2. For
papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE,
the Engineering mathematics section will carry 13 % of the total marks, GA will
carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining marks are devoted to the subject
of the paper.
3. For
papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, GA will carry 15 % of the
marks and 85 % of the total marks is devoted to the subjects of the paper.
4. GATE
2014 will have 2 types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (1 or 2 marks
each) and Numerical Answer Questions (1 or 2 marks each) .
5. For
1 mark multiple choice question, 1/3 will be deducted for wrong answer and for
2 Marks question, 2/3 of the mark will be deducted.
